WSP Environmental Attends Water Stewardship Stakeholder Forum

Earlier this month Cara Renshaw and Kimberley Graham attended the two day 3rd Water Stewardship Initiative Stakeholder Forum at Lancemore Hill.

The Forum brought together people from across the spectrum of interest in water stewardship, including water authorities, major commercial water users, financiers, retailers, government, environmental and social NGOs, traditional landowners, technical experts and more, from Australia and overseas.

The aim of the Forum was to review major issues and obstacles to developing a water stewardship system. Specifically, those associated with developing a stakeholder endorsed water stewardship standard applicable to agricultural, industrial, commercial and institutional water users; how the system will deliver market leverage for responsible water users; what are appropriate governance arrangements; and how verification systems will be operated.

The Water Stewardship Initiative is looking to secure further funding to advance this global initiative.

Water Stewardship is the global way for high volume water users to take responsibility and receive due redit for improving water management practices, right across their water usage cycle. The global Water Stewardship brand will identify responsible water users through their actions, products and services.
